Land application provides beneficial use of biosolids, applied at agronomic rates as a soil amendment in agriculture. Biosolids must, at a minimum, meet the requirements of 40 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 503 (503 Rule) for pathogen reduction, metals, and vector attraction reduction to be used in land application. Biosolids improve the nutrients and water retention of the soil.
